Just minutes after I said “I do,” my child was struck—what should have been a joyous celebration turned into a nightmare.

Just moments after I said “I do,” my child was struck. What was supposed to be a joyous celebration quickly turned into a nightmare.

The air was filled with happiness, and the room echoed with the warm laughter of the guests. Everything around seemed like a scene from a fairytale: sunlight streamed through the stained glass windows, and the delicate scent of lilies filled the air. The guests’ smiles were nearly as bright as the faces of the bride and groom, reflecting love and emotion.

The groom stood at the altar—tall, commanding, with a charm that could captivate anyone. His gaze, full of boundless love, was fixed on the bride. She looked like a true princess: a gown as white as snow, a radiant smile, eyes filled with tears of joy. The moment felt eternal—pure, touching, and fragile.

Slowly, silence fell over the room. The couple began to exchange their vows—sincere, calm words spoken before family and friends, binding their hearts with strong ties.

But suddenly, the silence was shattered by the sound of footsteps from a child. A boy, the groom’s nephew, ran out from the entrance. His face was filled with enthusiasm. He stumbled, instinctively reaching out to touch the edge of the bride’s dress. A soft gasp of surprise filled the church.

The bride spun around. For a moment, her face twisted in irritation, but what happened next would forever be etched in the memory of everyone present.

The groom raised his hand abruptly. A sharp slap rang through the room. The child fell to the ground, his face twisted with pain and confusion. A heavy, oppressive silence descended, broken only by the child’s sobs.

The guests stood frozen. Their faces turned into masks of horror and disbelief. What was meant to be the happiest day had suddenly become a nightmare.

The bride stood in shock. The bouquet slipped from her hands. Her gaze darted between the crying child and the face of the man to whom she had just pledged eternal love. The man she believed was the love of her life had struck an innocent child.

“What have you done?!” she whispered, her voice trembling with pain and disbelief.

A sense of despair pierced her soul. The bile rose in her throat. The perfect marriage she had dreamed of, the vows of love and fidelity—everything shattered in an instant. Her heart beat so loudly in her chest, it felt as though it would burst. Before her stood the man she had just married, but he was a stranger. Who was he? How could he do something like this? Could the man she knew be so cruel?

Doubts gnawed at her from within. Had she ever seen him for who he truly was? Her fairytale had ended in a jarring wake-up call.

The child lay on the floor, curled up. His body trembled with bitter sobs. His reddened cheek—a vivid reminder of the pain inflicted by an adult. His eyes were blurred with tears. He looked around for his mother, searching for protection, for an answer to the question: why had his beloved uncle, the groom, struck him? All he wanted was to hug his beautiful aunt…

The joyful atmosphere vanished instantly. The music, the laughter, the anticipation of the wedding cake—all became memories of a distant past. The world that had promised happiness had suddenly transformed into a source of pain and fear.

The silence was broken by a flurry of activity: the guests rushed toward the child. Voices grew harsh, filled with indignation and condemnation of the groom’s actions.
